1- Church Planting

The last couple of days I have been with prospective church planters. Guys from around the country who feel God have called them to start a church.

Huge challenge!

I know. I have been there and done that. I even bought the T-shirt.

I am a part of Vision 360 that is helping plant churches in urban America. The object of the movement is to establish a healthy model for starting churches in the top 50 most populated cities in America and the top 500 in the world.

Huge challenge.

The past two days I have been meeting with pastors who started churches and potential churches planters in a roundtable setting. I am stilling learning from others about church planting, even though it has been six years in the making for me.

The group I am meeting with is the Association of Related Churches (ARC). Quality leaders make up this organization and they have some amazing stories.

I have learned from Ashley who will be starting his church in Lexington, Kentucky in February 2009. And from Rick who launched his church in Little Rock 8 years ago and now has 9,000 attending.

Guys who seem to have a reckless abandon willing to tackle huge challenges inspire me. They cause me to think. They push me forward.

2- Think

I heard someone say once, “Thinking is overrated.” I heard someone else say, “To think is the essence of life.”

Which do you believe?

The writer of Philippians said, “Let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus (2:5).” Jesus said that all things are possible if you believe. In other words, if I think like Him the same works and greater I will do.

Hanging out with people like the ones I have been with the last 24 hours gets me thinking.

3- Daily thought

Each workday I try to send the NORTHchurch staff an email to think on. I simply entitle my emails “thinkonit.”

Here are a few I have sent.

“My private life only affects me.”  Statement made by someone who is utterly deceived

“I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go.”Abraham Lincoln

“Pray, and let God worry.”Martin Luther King

“A lie can get halfway around the world before the truth can even get its boots on.” Mark Twain

“Trust is the fruit of a relationship in which you know you are loved.” William P. Young
