Homeless

Homeless

Today I am going homeless.

Why?

Good question.

The choice has a lot to do with my own spiritual journey. I hope that I will gain a better understanding and empathy for the plight of the homeless. I trust that I come out of this with a deeper appreciation for what I have been blessed with and with a greater love for all people.

Today is not the best day for such an adventure. It is 17 degrees. It does not supposed to get much warmer. Not the preferred day to go on the streets of Oklahoma City. I guess those truly homeless don’t even have a choice.

I can go home. (If Shannon let’s me. She may think I am a little crazy.) Others are less fortunate. Yes, some choose this lifestyle. Some lives this way because of mental instability. But there is a growing number who have fallen on hard times, who would rather not be sleeping on the floors of shelters.

The journey begins.
